PepsiCo, the world’s leading food and beverage business, has established an agreement with the Saudi Irrigation Organization to strengthen scientific cooperation associated with water conservation methods.
This phase will implement optimum irrigation methods in order to address the Kingdom’s water sustainability problems. It will connect the objectives of the two organisations and increase their commitments to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 for the sustainable use of water in agriculture.
The agreement was signed in the presence of SIO President Dr Fuad bin Ahmed Al-Sheikh Mubarak and Wael Muhammad Ismail, PepsiCo’s Vice President for Corporate Affairs in MENA and Pakistan.
PepsiCo will engage in sponsored initiatives and projects that promote water consumption programmes using advanced water-saving agriculture technology, according to the MoU. The MoU will also enable the Saudis to improve their expertise and abilities by transferring information and creating capacity through practice. This will also substantially benefit current irrigation technological development.
The partnership focuses on conducting studies and research in order to obtain fresh, essential insights and equip Saudi farmers with knowledge about best practices. This partnership will aid in the development of novel goods, services, and techniques, demonstrating how contemporary technology may be used across the kingdom to positively influence Saudi communities through sustainable practices.
Ismail acknowledged the move, adding it will help improve water sustainability in the Kingdom.
“Through our partnership with SIO, we will be able to positively contribute to sustainable agriculture by appropriately considering water consumption, expanding regenerative agriculture methods, and enhancing the livelihoods of individuals in the Kingdom’s agricultural supply chain. Supporting underprivileged communities is critical to strengthening the overall food system, and we look forward to demonstrating the benefits of our strategic cooperation with SIO,” he remarked.
SIO President Mubarak further emphasised the significance of this MoU, which he stated aims to secure the sustainability of water resources, food security, and the expansion of agricultural regions in the Kingdom.
