“It is certainly not easy, balancing growth and profit with the needs of other stakeholders like our people and the planet. We also want to remind people that small actions by individuals can drive big change. We need an entire mindset shift across business and amongst all of us as individuals to avoid us drifting into a climate crisis with dire consequences”. “Today marks the launch of our new brand campaign – Little Drinks, Big Dreams, a nudge for all of us in a year of change to make sure that we are consciously rowing in the right direction towards a healthier, fairer and more sustainable future.
At innocent our purpose “to help people and the planet live well and die old” has been central to how we have grown the company. It is certainly not easy, balancing growth and profit with the needs of other stakeholders like our people and the planet. It is a constant process of evolution and improvement and we are the first to admit we are by no means perfect. Having said that we are super proud of both the scale we have achieved (we will soon hit €500m of turnover) and the way we have done it (we became a certified B Corp In 2018).
We still have some big dreams for the future though, to enable healthier people, In healthier communities, on a healthy planet. Our new Little Drinks, Big Dreams campaign focuses on the ways we are working to look after the planet, while continuing to make it easy for people to do themselves some good with our simple, natural and delicious drinks.
From delivering carbon neutral by 2030 at the very latest; to influencing wider change through the Better Business Act and other similar initiatives across Europe; to making recycling easier and easier so we capture all our bottles back and deliver a circular economy.
Our pledge to give 10% of profits to charity means we will always be there for those less fortunate than ourselves. Enabling the great work of the innocent Foundation to help the word’s hungry and of course our Big Knit campaign to help the lonely and vulnerable (keep those woolly hats coming), are some of the things we are most proud of.
We also want to remind people that small actions by individuals can drive big change – something that is embedded into our culture here at innocent and something our fantastic campaign in France “Les grand petits pan” has been bringing to life in recent times.
The reality though is one company, 1,000 companies, or even 100,000 companies committing to a more purpose led business model is good but not enough. We need an entire mindset shift across business and amongst all of us as individuals to avoid us drifting into a climate crisis with dire consequences.
My dream is that all of us use our Covid reflections to really commit to doing things differently from here on in. So I am with the otter (you need to see the ad) let’s get fixing up the planet and fixing it up for good, because there is no planet B”.
