The First Job Initiative
“First Job Initiative is a series of paid and consistent part time jobs for rough sleeping homeless men & women to gently enter the workforce again. We then increase their working hours by giving them something to do, by providing guidance and instilling self esteem. Small jobs under this project engages them in meaningful activity to build resilience, confidence, dignity and independence whilst providing much needed financial income. By engaging with them in this way it allows us to build a relationship with them and help them engage into with necessary services such as counseling, substance abuse rehabilitation, access to health care, etc. in a more dignified manner.
So, real jobs, real wages.

Unseen Tours Kuala Lumpur
Unseen Tours Kuala Lumpur are perspective tours led by formerly homeless people and marginalised communities. The tours, curated and run by formerly street people and other marginalised communities, provides sustainable living and employment opportunities for these individuals and helps them achieve a better quality of lives. This programme is a proud initiative of Yellow House and was under the support of VIP Fellowship Programme supported by the Ministry of Finance, National Strategic Unit and is a Blue Ocean Strategy.

Community Connect was a 3 month project managed by Think City, supported by Citi Foundation and implemented by Yellow House KL, to connect the homeless with the business community in a mutually beneficial way. The pilot is based on almost two years of surveys, data collection, community engagement and other urban rejuvenation projects in that same space. It focuses on bringing together people sleeping rough around Bangkok Bank in downtown KL with local businesses to test if people helping each other can lead to mutual benefits – for the homeless, an exit strategy to sleeping on the streets, and for the shop owners, a boost to sales.
