Following the release of L’Oréal Group’s new sustainability programme, ‘L’Oréal for the Future,’ and its most recent set of 2030 aspirations, L’Oréal Egypt staged the closing ceremony of the second edition of its Supplier Sustainability Summit in Egypt on Tuesday.
L’Oreal Egypt Managing Director Benoit Julia, as well as other suppliers, attended the event and shared sustainable manufacturing methods in order to achieve sustainable development goals. Rania Al Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, also took part in the event remotely.
“Ensuring comprehensive and successful economic growth necessitates adherence to sustainability norms, particularly by the private sector, which is a key engine of growth.” As a result, the Egyptian government is working on a variety of initiatives to expand the private sector’s role in achieving sustainable and inclusive development and promoting innovation, as it believes the private sector is a critical partner in unlocking the Egyptian economy’s potential,” Al-Mashat said.
She emphasised that Egypt prioritises green transformation and incorporates climate action into all parts of development since it is impossible to achieve sustainable development without promoting climate action.
Furthermore, she stated that Egypt established the 2050 National Climate Change Strategy in light of Egypt’s hosting and chairmanship of the UN Conference of Parties on Climate Change (COP27). It also revealed its nationally determined contributions (NDCs) to cut emissions as part of its 2030 Vision and to guarantee a green, equitable, and inclusive transition.
Last year, L’Oreal Egypt held its inaugural Supplier Sustainability Summit in Egypt. The event includes a variety of online and offline events that began in 2021 in order to pave the way for insight, interaction, co-creation, and engagement with suppliers.
Julia, for one, emphasised that L’Oréal concentrates its efforts on adopting sustainability in all of the nations where it works.
He also highlighted the company’s role in helping Egypt’s environmental sustainability efforts through targeted activities aligned with the company’s L’Oreal for the Future programme, which would serve as a catalyst for change by empowering suppliers aiming for a better environment.
