The goal of the challenge was to provide a mobility solution for the Tour&Taxis mixed-use complex near Brussels North railway station. Tour & Taxis, created by Nextensa, a leading Belgian real estate investor and developer, is an appealing and inclusive multipurpose futuristic environment in the heart of Brussels, offering diverse accommodation, next-generation workspaces, and cutting-edge venues for conferences, seminars, and events. It is supplemented with recreational amenities as well as open and green spaces that are accessible to the public.
Tour&Taxis aimed to improve site users’ mobility options, encourage car sharing among them, and maximise the use of owned private automobiles that are parked and not being utilised. Volvero was an excellent answer for the area’s demands because it solves the latter difficulties and gives incentives for sharing private automobiles.
Indeed, Tour&Taxis, like every other city in the globe, seeks to increase transportation alternatives for its citizens while pursuing an urban redevelopment agenda. There are current transportation options (shuttles) serving the community, however, the space is also used by private automobiles belonging to residents who spend 90% of their time idle parked. With a predicted rise in the number of inhabitants in the coming months, there will be a demand for parking spots, as well as the resulting traffic congestion.
The issue can be handled by encouraging vehicle sharing. Volvero’s platform and business model will specifically address the following identified issues: providing an alternative mode of transportation for residents, reducing congestion because sharing eliminates the need to acquire a private vehicle, and providing an incentive for sharing private vehicles. All through a simple app, with no need for a hardware solution.
But how precisely is this accomplished?
The car’s owner registers with Volvero and displays the vehicle, its availability, and a price.
The driver registers, uploads the necessary papers and data, selects the best car for the journey, and bookings the desired length of usage.
The transaction is completed after the owner confirms the reservation. During the trip, customers may get help immediately on the app in the event of an emergency, and in the event of an incident, telemetry data are gathered from the Driver’s mobile device or device mounted on the car for investigation and out-of-pocket reimbursements.
The driver returns the car to the agreed-upon location at the conclusion of the sharing period and completes the checkout procedure on the app.
Volvero allows you to share or hire a variety of vehicles, including cars, motorbikes, and recreational vehicles. Furthermore, Volvero includes a unique AI telematics system that gathers and analyses driving data from users’ mobile phones’ sensors in order to enhance their driving behaviours and reward the best and most careful drivers. The software is based on a perfect combination of sophisticated technology such as blockchain and its applications to construct smart contracts, which are contracts that self-execute themselves when specific conditions are satisfied, for customised insurance policies and automatic payments.
Following the challenge’s triumph, Volvero will visit Tour&Taxes in Q2 2022 to establish an MVP on-site and extend to Brussels in the future. The program involves regular check-ins with the EIT Urban Mobility RAPTOR Team, mentorship from CISCO, the technical partner, and other project participants, and, of course, real MVP testing in the area.
Nextensa’s ultimate goal for the area is to “create a place where everyone can feel at home,” and Volvero believes it will play a significant role in achieving this goal by instilling a sense of community among the area’s residents and visitors by connecting vehicle owners and drivers and providing the most modern and efficient mobility solution. In the long term, Volvero will reduce pollution, traffic, and the demand for urban areas for parking, freeing up room for other Tour&Taxis amenities and assisting it in becoming an inclusive environment focused on the well-being of its residents and tourists.
Volvero seeks to create awareness about the better allocation of privately owned automobiles that is not only less expensive but also more efficient for users and the community. This should result in fewer automobiles in the area, enhanced social inclusion and gender equality as a result of more balanced vehicle access, and better driving behaviour as drivers’ behaviours are monitored by our telematics technology, which incentivizes safe driving practises through in-credit payments.
